
Intel has teamed up with Edu Systems International (ESI) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding of the skoool™ Interactive Learning and Teaching Technology.This agreement is part of Intel's involvement in the Egyptian Education Initiative launched at the World Economic Forum in Sharm El Sheikh 2006.
The skoool™ Interactive Learning and Teaching Technology programme is designed to promote wider use of high quality multi-media technology to expand and improve student education worldwide.More than one million students and teachers use this Web resource to explore key math and science concepts. skoool™ is currently offered in Ireland, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, with Egypt being the next spot that will offer the programme.
Working with key local companies and the Ministry of Education in Egypt, Intel aims to customise, deploy, and develop its skoool™ Interactive Learning and Teaching Technology programme in Egypt.“Our main priority in providing Egyptian students with an enhanced e-learning experience is that our skoool technology content is aligned with the school curriculum here in Egypt,” said Dr. Khaled Elamrawi, Intel General Manager,Egypt,Levant and North Africa at a signing ceremony which took place today at the Intel office.“We are pleased to work with the Egyptian government to up-level the education curricula at schools and to integrate tailor-made local content solutions. Through a sustained public-private partnership with educators and governments in more than 50 countries, we aim to deliver programmes that improve the effective use of technology to enhance 21st century skills, and encourage excellence in mathematics, science, and engineering,”he added. Intel and ESI have plans to implement an Egyptian version of the Skoool ™ Education Technology web tool for learning and teaching. "ESI strongly emphasises capacity building and corporate social responsibility in its relationship with the community," said Dr. Hassan El-Kalla, EST Chairman. "That's why the launch of skoool™ here in Egypt is a very important step for us."
